Welcome back to my life!

Good Evening everybody.

As you can see from the photos in my last post this island is beautiful. I usually spend my the time i'm not working finding a comfy spot on the beach and relaxing for the day. The pace here is slow. It's never too busy and always chill. Tonight I am working the dinner shift. This is from 2:30- 10. I spent the morning reading (I finished my first book here, yay for me!). My coworkers are great. The gringos are from USA, Canada, England, Austrailia, and Spain. We also have a local staff of about 15 who live here on the island. On Monday I was working with the housekeepers to find out what was wrong with all of our rooms. They could use some upgrades. I will be working with the maintence man, Will, on Friday. Yesterday afternoon I played some volleyball with the locals, it was a blast. The island generator broke 2 days ago and should be out for a couple weeks. Luckily our owner was smart enough to run on her own power instead of the islands, so we still have all the power we need. Most nights I spend at Tranquilo's the touristy bar on the island. I tried scuba diving and passed my exam. I need 4 dives to become certified now. Sadly, I got an ear infection after my first confined session so I will be out of the water for 5 days. I walked around the whole south end of the island. I should have worn shoes though. I tried to do it in sandals/ bare feet and needless to say it was not very fun. Some awesome views though. I'm not really sure what else to write about.

I'll try to update again next week.

  1. Hi Doug,
Beautiful pics! Makes me wish I wasn't looking at about 14 inches of snow outside my window! Makes you miss PA, huh? Nope, didn't think so. So, if I come to visit will I stay in one of those little huts? Kind of rustic... Or do the guests stay somewhere else?
I hope you're enjoying your mosquito net!

  2. Sounds beautiful and peaceful Doug. Glad to read you are enjoying yourself. I am about to start diving lessons myself here in the Bay area. Looking forward to a new hobby!
